About Us
The Marajoara civilization, named after the island of Marajó located 80 miles from Belém, holds a special place in our story. Though not fully understood, this ancient civilization prominently featured powerful female figures in its iconography and art. Growing up, Mariana was captivated by the strong influence of women's energy, passed down through generations.
Amastones aims to share the stories of this beautiful Amazonian culture with the rest of the world. We are a platform that showcases the immense talent of local artisans, who possess a deep understanding of the region's folklore, history, and ancestral knowledge. These gifted individuals bring their tales to life through their craft, often using natural materials such as seeds, fibers, dried fruits, shells, stones, bones, and wood.
Our commitment to sustainability runs deep. We carry pieces from artist who carefully extract materials in a responsible manner, preserving the memory, roots, and folklore of their ancestors. Through their local inlay techniques, they breathe new life into discarded or recycled materials, extending their usefulness and preventing environmental pollution.
At Amastones, we aim to introduce the world to the wonders of the Amazon's secrets. We believe that even in places that many have never heard of, there are artisans with remarkable tribal identities and incredible skills. Each piece we offer connects humans with nature in a unique way.
By supporting Amastones, you not only help preserve age-old customs of jewelry making, but also provide sources of income for local communities. The creation of sustainable jewelry and accessories generates employment opportunities and stimulates the local economy. We strongly believe in maintaining our collaborations with these communities, continually sharing both their beauty and diversity.
Every product we offer is meticulously handmade, eschewing large factories and supporting the local artists. Our vision is to build bridges where distance exists and shine a light on the talented artisans from the Amazon region in Brazil—those from riverside communities, indigenous tribes, and generations of artists born in Brazil. Join us on this remarkable journey as we uncover the hidden treasures of the Amazon and celebrate the artistry and craftsmanship of its people.
