Sparkling for Change: Amastones' Commitment to Saving the Amazon Rainforest

At Amastones, we believe in more than just creating beautiful pieces of jewelry. We are also passionate about making a positive impact on the world. That's why we are excited to announce our activism initiative to donate a percentage of our sales to causes dedicated to protecting the Amazon Rainforest in Brazil. We were originally planning on joining the initiative started by Patagonia known as "1% for the Planet," which commits 1% of a business's proceeds to protecting the natural environment. However, we wanted to take it a step further and double that number! Therefore, we have decided to donate 2% of our sales to Amazon Rainforest conservation.

The donated proceeds will be divided between two separate, but intertwined causes that are important to us. One percent of our sales will go to charities that have the goal of protecting the physical rainforest, while the the other percentage will go directly to tribes that call the rainforest region their home. This concept is simple: by contributing a small percentage of our proceeds, we can collectively make a significant impact on preserving our planet for future generations.

Why Save the Amazon Rainforest?

The Amazon Rainforest is often referred to as the "lungs of the Earth" as it plays a crucial role in mitigating climate change. In fact, the Amazon Rainforest is responsible for producing approximately 20% of the world's oxygen! Its dense vegetation releases oxygen into the atmosphere, making it a vital source of breathable air for people around the globe.

The Amazon Rainforest acts as a natural thermostat for the planet. Its moisture-rich ecosystem helps regulate weather patterns, maintaining a stable climate in South America and beyond. Trees in the Amazon Rainforest absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere during photosynthesis, which process helps to regulate the Earth's carbon cycle, preventing excessive levels of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere that contribute to global warming.
